The world has fallen. Well, to be more precise, people decided to try and destroy one another. In 2250 the world population was 10.5 billion people. Then World War III started. By the time the war was over in 2255, there were only 1 million humans left. By the time the effects of the war were over in 2270 there were only 500,000 people left on the planet. With so few people life changed fast. Big cities were shut down and left to grow over, they were not needed anymore. Small cities and towns died quickly as people scrambled for togetherness. Soon there were clusters of cities, populations no greater than a thousand, all over the planet, in the choicest of places. These cities would clump together, close enough to share resources easily, but far enough away that they didn’t crowd or share energy.
This left the gods much weaker than they had been before. Gods of culture like Athena, the muses, and Apollo were weaker. God’s of war and survival like Ares, Hades, and Demeter, were stronger. The whole of Olympus was balanced wrong.
This affected their children, the demi-gods on earth. Camp Half-Blood is gone, as well as Camp Jupiter, and all the other ‘safe’ places for demi-gods and their kin. Some brave Campers from all places and sides came together and made the Sanctum. A fortress of a city, the Sanctum is safety for the campers. Monsters cannot breach it, it is manned at all times by experienced campers, and it is safety. The Sanctum has replaced the camps. The children must work for themselves now, they much teach themselves, they must fend for themselves, and they must survive in a world with no help.
